How To Travel Across Australia On A Budget

Australia is one of the world's truly great travel destinations and with millions of annual visitors it is also one of the most popular. But travelling to and through the land down under can get expensive very quickly. Therefore it is a good idea to keep some tips in mind if you plan on heading to Australia but don't have a lot of money to spend.

Australia can be summed up in one word - big. Actually that is probably an understatement. Covering nearly three million square miles of land mass it is absolutely enormous.

With so much land to cover, travelling across the Australian continent can be an incredible adventure but it can also be an expensive one. But there are ways to see all that the Outback and the rest of this fascinating country has to offer without breaking the bank.

One of the cheapest and most convenient ways to travel across Australia is by renting an RV or a camper van. There are several companies throughout the country that rent out these vehicle at very reasonable rates. One of the best things about the camper van option is that it is both a mode of transportation as well as a place to sleep and that saves you money right there.

The tour bus is a fairly common way for both visitors and locals to get from point A to point B in Australia. These are essentially charter buses that take large groups of people across the continent to various cities.

The only possible downside is that the crowds on these buses are often younger college-age individuals who are the party types. But if that's your thing, then it can be a fun and cheap way to go.

The Ghan is the railway train in Australia that runs between Adelaide on the southern coast, Alice Springs in central Australia, and Darwin on the northern coast. While the route is admittedly somewhat limited, it is a very comfortable ride and a great way to see the Australian countryside. The trip from coast to coast takes about 54 hours and is very inexpensive.

Travelling across Australia is bound to be the adventure of a lifetime no matter how you choose to do it. But if you are trying to stick to a budget, these are some of the best options for a memorable and affordable experience.
