"What is that amazing aroma?" you think as you enter the outdoor market area. Suddenly you are inundated with different smells coming from all directions, as you discover a hundred different mom and pop stalls cooking all kinds of different kinds of Thai foods. "How am I going to sample it all?" you ask yourself - never considering the the possibility that you will leave Thailand without at least trying every food this amazing country has to offer.

Thailand is located in the heart of southeast Asia, bordered by Laos and Burma. Thailand is truly an ancient land, with evidence of human habitation dating back up to 40,000 years or more. Thailand is the 51st largest country in the world, having a slightly larger land mass than Spain.

Thai food has a couple of philosophical basis. The first is that food should generally be prepared to be light and highly aromatic. This is a reason that Thai food is often some of the more spicy and tasty cuisine to be found. Additionally, Thais like to combine their foods such that each plate carries a balance of three to four flavors or tastes. This is a very important part of eating Thai food.

Thai food is composed of various ingredients specifically seafoods such has fish, fish paste, chili paste, chilis, noodles, a wide variety of vegetables, chicken, and pork. In addition to Pad Thai you may wish to try Khao man gai, Massaman Curry, or Geng Kheaw Wan Gai. You can expect to spend between $3 to $8 for a complete meal with multiple courses and tastes.

Any trip to Thailand is only complete with the sampling of various Thai foods. Due to its unique position in the heart of southeast Asia, and its bustling economy, Thailand has grown in stature on the international stage in recent years. This has opened the country to tourism. For this we should all be thankful, as this has opened the world of Thai food up to the rest of us.
